VARLAM CHARKVIANI
The artistic practice of Georgian artist Varlam Charkviani (born in 1964) is deeply informed by a long-standing engagement with yoga and qigong—disciplines that permeate his visual language with a meditative rigor and spiritual resonance. Each composition unfolds as the outcome of an inner journey, evoking a subtle dialogue between the tangible and the transcendent.
Technically refined and rich with echoes of Slavic art historical traditions, Charkviani’s work channels the symmetrical intensity of mandalas. Yet these are not mere aesthetic objects—they operate as metaphysical thresholds, inviting the viewer into states of stillness, reflection, and expanded perception
