JESS RIVA COOPER

Jess Riva Cooper, Canadian ceramist born in 1981, draws inspiration from ancient techniques to create striking works. The initial moulding, her self-portrait, is denatured, stripped of its markers and invaded by a luxuriant and invasive flora. These busts express a transition of state where life and death come together. Humanity becomes naturalized, the individual disappears in favour of a new form of life.
